Gospel, Good News+++
For I am not ashamed of the Gospel+++
Welcome to euangelion.net!
This is a site committed to respectful conversation, consideration, and reflection about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The good news of Christ is a gift from God, and is not subject to human restrictions, requirements, or rigid moral piety. Rather, as the scriptures proclaim, the gospel “is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith...the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith,” Romans 1:16-17.
We embrace this inclusive gospel of God for all people. We uphold a “Theology of the Cross,” understood in the Lutheran Tradition of the church catholic. We declare that the cross affirms God’s care for a broken world, and a lost humanity. We proclaim that Jesus did not come to die and be resurrected to somehow make "bad" people "good," but to make the dead alive. We read the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures with God’s grace in Christ being the primary lens in which we see God’s purpose, and God’s message for the world of love, grace, and mercy.
God’s grace is an unlikely message for us in this world, inundating us with Divine Surprise. We are welcomed and gifted by the Holy Spirit to hear this word, believing in the call of God as we remember our baptism each day, walking in the grace of God within the world that God “so loves.”
Keep visiting our site, as it will always be in a state of construction and revision, much like our journeys of faith and life within the gospel.
"For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
1 Corinthians 1:18 NRSV
